Lyn Smith has a solid background in dairy farming and has really immersed herself in everything to do with the industry, not just from a business and technology level but also at grass roots, being involved in education, breeding and showing.
With an HND in Animal Science, Lyn has worked on some large, high yielding dairy farms. Understanding the importance of having the right cow to suit the right farm system, she developed a passion for breeding. Working at Kingspool Holsteins where they won the Gold Cup in 2010 and where Lyn won the South West Region of the Calf Rearer of the Year competition. She has also worked on an Open Farm experiencing the value of education and gaining a qualification for Farming and Countryside Education.
Dairy farming is definitely in her bones, “There’s nothing better than getting up in the morning to milk great cows!” Lyn Smith.
In 2014 Lyn worked for a compound feed business as Ruminant Technical support and in 2016 completed a diploma in Ruminant Nutrition at Harper Adams, joining Advanced Nutrition at the end of 2020.
Lyn believes that sustainability, technology and robot milking are going to become the future of our industry. She believes in making good use of the technology available to improve farm efficiencies and KPI’s.
